Hello.

I recently bought the card (see subject), thinking I would add an old hd to
my box, in order to have more space for my mandrake boot (my computer dual
boots xp and Mandrake 9.2). Anyway, physical installation goes fine, the
card and the drive are detected at bootup, the raid config utility shows
up. However problems start after that. Lilo loads properly, the starts
linux, which then starts its boot. After detecting pretty much all the
drives, just before init, the kernel panics and just stops there.
The thing is, I tried starting Mdk from the install disc in order to have it
boot fine and then have lilo updated with the new drives mapping (which
annoys me, it changes my normal ide drives from hda/hdb to something like
hde and hdf, even though the system boots normal drives first). The problem
here is that lilo hangs up or just spits an error about how the drive
doesn't have a valid bootrecord or some similar error.

Is there a way to even have Mdk boot with that card? Or should I get another
brand/chip that is know to work with Linux? I only need a ide/udma card
really, since I only plan to plug one drive there.

Thanks in advance.
