Hi NG!
I'll soon get a 1700MHz cpu and I'd like to buy a nice graphics card
for this one. I'd like to be able to:
- Use it on xfree without problems (no framebuffer)
- with the latest (2.6) kernel, (which is impossible with e.g. my kyro
II 3d prophet card)
- if possible open source drivers as I don't like binaries (e.g. no
kyro or nvidia-based)
- Be able to watch films and stuff, dvds etc.
- Be able to play power-requesting directx9 games under windows (which
is actually my only use of it)

What card should I buy?

I definitely don't want a hercules, as their support is a joke rather
than something helpful. No ati either because of compatiblity issues.
As of nvidia, I'm using gentoo and I saw that the drivers are
binaries. I'm just afraid that these binaries won't be updated quickly
enough, but if you tell me that nvidia's fine then I'll consider
buying one.

Thanks for your help!
