AMD 64 Rumours!

Hi all. I am planning on building myself a "super" computer to run
Suse64! I want to use a AMD64 processor. I heard a rumour that AMD
plan on changing the socket for these processors soon, and that anyone
wanting one should wait for a little bit.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Should I wait or is it just a
rumour?

Also, can anyone recommend a specific chip to buy? Price is not the
first consideration, i want something that can be upgraded in the
future and won't leave me stuck. I learnt that lesson with the first
pentiums. I bought a 60 Mhz PI and found that it was fixed to the
motherboard and could not be removed. :-(
