First off, MSI has two models with numbers that are similar, but not
identical, to the one you mention:

- The K8T Neo-FSR
- The K8T Neo-FIS2R

The two boards are based on the same basic design, but the second one
adds a few features, such as IEEE-1394 (the "I" in the model number) and
a second set of ATA devices driven by a Promise controller (the "2" in
the model number, for a total of 4 SATA and 3 PATA ports, IIRC, vs. 2 and
2 for the FSR model).

I've got the K8T Neo-FSR, and it works reasonably well with Linux. The
biggest problem is the on-board sound; the VIA VT8237 that drives it is
not yet officially supported by the kernel, although it does work with
the ALSA VT8233 driver -- just not optimally. Specifically, some programs
produce sped-up or "stuttery" sound. This is mostly a problem with games
that put a heavy CPU load on the system, in my experience. You're likely
to have similar problems if you use the on-board sound with any
motherboard based on the VIA K8T800/VT8237 chipset. I believe the ASUS
K8V Deluxe uses this chipset, so I wouldn't expect it to be any different
in this respect.

I can't comment on these, I'm afraid; I'm using a cheap SiS Xabre-based
board, which has caused me some real headaches. I now wish I'd spent a few
more bucks for something built around an nVidia or ATI chipset.
