I bought an Asus K8V Deluxe, and after some months found that it
produced data errors under 64-bit Linux in some cases, and when
transfering data across USB under Windows (did not try USB under Linux
then). In addition it had the capacitors that are supposedly faulty;
I doubt that they had an influence on my problems, but that helped
getting a replacement immediately.

As a replacement I got a K8V SE Deluxe; from the data *** it seems
to be the same board except for the name of the Ethernet chip (the
Linux driver is still the same). Initially this produced reboots
under 64-bit Linux every 9-12 minutes (almost like a clockwork),
unless I booted Windows first. After trying a few BIOS options I
finally found some that fixed this problem (I don't remember exactly
what they were).

However, there still seems to be some problem of this kind. Now and
then I get a spontaneous reboot when I run oggenc. The reboots are
more frequent if I enable the quiet-fan mode in the BIOS; however, I
doubt that the reboots are temperature related, because the reported
temperatures (around 50 degrees Celsius) don't seem to be too hot, and
the crashes do not seem to be correlated to how long oggenc has run.
Any idea what's wrong? I am getting sick of replacing the board.

Concerning the VIA 8237 sound issue mentioned in another posting, I
have nothing to report, because I use an extra sound card (SB Audigy).
