Yesterday, I bought the machine, mentioned in the subject line. I'm
really impressed, how nice it works with Linux and it seems to have a
    nice performance.

After some google search work, I could even get the modem running. I'm
using SuSE 9.0 as it comes on CDs (I gave my DVD to a friend of mine,
since my old laptop had no DVD ;-)).

The only thing, which doesn't work, is power management. The only thing,
I'd like to do, is suspend to memory or suspend to disk in order to
    save the time for rebooting.

Do I need another kernel (2.6.x) for that? At the moment, I have the
    default kernel 2.4.21-99-default.
