If you do try 9.1 there is just one caveat, when it asks which way to
install ( bit vague I know but cannot remember the exact wording )
choose the option with ?No ACPI? this should work and get the nic
detected from the startup allowing for autoupdate ( using DHCP ) during
the final phase, also the setting of noacpi will be saved into the grub
menu.lst automatically so the nic will be accessible during normal boot
after installing 9.1.
