Simply put, the answer is, no. I've had my exposure to plenty of
hardware and software problems, but with my present setup, I've been
running without any unaccounted for difficulties since last fall.
Not only are the errors associated only with this one diskette and its
image, but they are not always consistent.
I've gone into more detail in another branch of this threat, but it
seems that whatever the reason, the diskette may not have a file
system and appears to hold content that is largely binary and
compressed. The original application on the diskette was for OS/2;
files were saved to it under Windows 98, and there was no sign of
any problem when I did that; but the intelligible parts of the
diskette image refer to linux libraries.
