notebook and BIOS

I have a Dell 8600 running FC2 with BIOS A.07 . There is an upgrade for
A.08 but I'm not sure that it is a sane thing to do to upgrade to it. I
have read that a BIOS update isn't reversible, and don't want to throw
away all the setup work I have invested so far. Anyone having any thought
on this, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks.
