Hello erveryone,
I've spent the last two nights rebooting and reinstalling Fedora Core 2, any
help is therfore greatly appreciated.
Installation is on a clean disk and will run fine. The graphical interface
works fine during setup. The first problem I encouter is that my monitor is
not recognized by the installer. I've posted the link to my monitor below
with extensive information, otherwise here are the short facts: res:
800x600 - 1600x1200 h:30-115 v:50-160.
During the first install I chose a similar monitor a Samsung 1000p, and
modfied the vsync rate to 85. Funny thing, the os worked and I could use FC2
on the GNOME dektop. Knowing that my screen is capable of 105Hz at the
resoloution of 1280x1024 I used the kickstart tool to modify the monitor
settings. After changing the scan rates I saved to the anaconda-ks.cfg file
and rebooted.
I haven't smiled since. The system rebooted and showed the mousepointer plus
the gui screen when the services are started (I hope you know what I mean).
Then instead of starting GNOM gui i was informed the setup is not correct
and was left with a command prompt instead. Being a total linux newb, I
reinstalled using the same settings the first time. It hasn't worked once
since and I've tried numerous setups.
This has forced me to cope the prompt ealier than i had hoped, knowig some
dos from the older days I've managed to edit the anaconada-ks.cfg .
(Hurray - at least that felt good!) I also noticed that my VGA adapter was a
Generic VGA card.. (???)
Now I've completely run out of Ideas and can't find further infos on net -
so I really would appreciate some support ;)
Here's some info on MyHardware:
