Canon BJC5500 @ Extended Net SX ESI2841

Hello,

i have trouble getting the Canon BJC5500 to work when it is connected to the
Extend Net SX ESI2841 Printserver. When connected to the parallel port the
printer works just fine, but connected to the printserver it doesn't.

Printserver is visible to the network, connection printserver <-> printer
seems to be o.k., at last when printing a configuration page directly from
the printserver (set to "text only") it works.

System is SuSE 8.2 with SuSE kernel, i use the generic canon driver for the
BC800, since no BJC5500 specific driver seems to be around. At last i
didn't find one :-)

Since i got both things used without a manual i'm a bit unsure if it might
be only a configuration error or a real incompatibility.

Any hints?
