Yep; the Cisco switches being very configurable, they tend to work in
"easy" environments without any set-up, but when you're doing something
special (or you're putting a significant load on them) you need to have
them configured correctly (and you're doing both - good load, and "non-
standard" data). I've seen flooding controls on a Cisco switch completely
kill performance when doing NFS load testing.
The other thing is to make sure you have up-to-date software versions
on the switches.
