ObQuestion:
Can I listen to mp3s while a script is recording whatever comes in
line-in on the same sound card, and if so, how?
I've been recording radio programs using my sound card's line-in, sox
and lame to create low-bitrate mp3s and it works great.
Problem is, using /dev/dsp as the source, it would seem that I can't
listen to anything else without the line-in getting in the mix. It
would seem like line-in could run through Analog-Digital conversion
while mp3 could run through Digital-Analog without necessarily meeting
along the way. Is there some limitation to sound cards (or this card)
that makes this not possible?
I'm using ALSA 1.0.2 on Mandrake 10.0 with a VIA VT8233/A/8235 AC97
Audio controller (onboard)
My Tivo can show one thing while recording something else, so I thought
I'd ask. :)
