Thanks for the reply, but I was actually referring to any arbitrary mp3,
not necessarily the one that is being recorded. In any case they play
just fine, but the sound card audio-out (the speakers) play both the mp3
and whatever is coming in on line-in simultaneously like two radios
turned to different stations. If I "mute" the line-in to hear just the
mp3, then nothing but silence is recorded.
