    Well, the amd74xx module has been usable with nforce chipsets for a while, no?
    That's only for IDE. For SATA on the nforce3 (not sure about the older
    versions) there's a module called sata_nv. Of course, I haven't tried this
    so YMMV :-) Also, some motherboards come with extra drive controllers.
    Those may not be yet supported.

    But it looks like the story is about the same for all the Athlon 64
    motherboards. I've only seen chipsets by NVidia, Via, and SiS. Out of those
    it appears that the NForce3 has the best I/O characteristics (lower CPU
    usage, and marginally higher transfer rates).
