Serial Console for IBM x336 DB9 Port Settings ?

Trying out an eval IBM x336 Intel 1U server for a possible Linux
platform.
The system has a DB9 serial port on the back. How can this port be
used for a serial console?
What are the BAUD, number of bits,stop,and parity settings for use as
a console?
