Hi
I'd like to know which is the way to obtain the best performance of a VIA
video card. I'm using kde 3.2.3 in slacware 10.
lspci says:
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8623 [Apollo CLE266]
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8633 [Apollo Pro266 AGP]
00:0b.0 Modem: Smart Link Ltd.: Unknown device 8800 (rev 02)
00:0d.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
[usb lines]
00:11.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8235 ISA Bridge
00:11.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc.
VT82C586A/B/VT82C686/A/B/VT823x/A/C/VT8235 PIPC Bus Master IDE (rev 06)
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc.
VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 50)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8623 [Apollo
CLE266] integrated CastleRock graphics (rev 03)
I tried putting "via" in the device section, but I get a 640x480 screen with
a square in the place of the mouse arrow. By now I'm using the "vesa"
driver, nice 800x600 screen but when trying to reproduce a vcd in full
screen mode I get many dropped frames.
I'll really appreciate your help,
