After several corded optical mouses went bad on me (I believe the cable
breaks where it enters the mouse body, or in one case, the left mouse
button quit), I switched to the Cordless Click!. It works great except...
When I reboot the computer under Linux, the mouse goes haywire. When X
starts, it jumps all over the screen in response to any movement.
Moreover, it seems generate clicks as windows will start popping up. I
can only get the mouse to behave by booting with a different mouse then
unplugging it and plugging in the Click!.
I'm running the system through a 4-port IOGear MiniView KVM. I'm not
getting any problems on a similar box (same model mainboard) running XP
(yech!). Also, I'm not getting the same problem booting from Knoppix (I
normally run Debian Sarge with a 2.6.7 kernel). I've tried adjusting the
mouse settings in XF86Config-4 but no luck.
Here's my current settings:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "false"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "5 6"
Option "Buttons" "6"
EndSection
Again, various protocols, ZAxisMapping and Buttons settings all seem to
work equally badly.
Any suggestions?
