SMC8013 NIC stopped working after upgrade to FC3

Hi,

I have an "SMC Ethercard Plus Elite 16 Combo" a.k.a. WD-8013-EWC, non-pnp
ISA network card. It has always worked without a problem, until after I
upgraded from Fedora Core 1 to Fedora Core 3 (kernel 2.6.9).

In modprobe.conf I have:
alias eth0 wd
options eth0 irq=5 io=0x240

But after the system boots, I find in /var/log/messages:
Nov 23 18:13:38 localhost kernel: wd.c: No wd80x3 card found (i/o =
0x240).

And the same when I try:
/sbin/modprobe wd irq=5 io=0x240
FATAL: Error inserting wd (/lib/modules/2.6.9/kernel/drivers/net/wd.ko):
No such device or address

Using a dos utility ("ezstart") on a bootfloppy I checked the irq and io
address (OK, same as in modprobe.conf), and in the bios I have IRQ5 set to
"Legacy ISA". The card also works under Win95 on the same machine.

Here's the output of cat /proc/ioports and cat proc/interrupts, AFAIK
there's no conflict:
