Someone asked about this in a thread a few days ago. My wife got hers a
few days ago. She loves Linux, so isn't really wanting to become a
switcher, she just liked the shuffle. Unfortunately, it has a couple extra
files that make it go that gtkPod can't handle yet. So we had to take it
to my brother's to load the music. That's not to rough, as she rarely
changes music. But just to answer the poster's question, no, the Shuffle
and Linux don't work yet. Hardware-wise, it's fine. It mounts just like a
regular USB memory stick. However, there's work going on with gnupod to
get it so you can actually load songs on it.

Hopefully they get this done soon.
