mgetty-voice? or vgetty?

If the modem includes voice functionality (and isn't flat out lying about
it) it's probably a real hardware modem and should just work. Unlike my
old pctel chipset that said voice, but never implemented it in the
software drivers on any platform. Basically if the system requirements
are a cpu >= 166MHz, it's probably software based. At which point it's
hit and miss for a driver that supports it.

I've been okay with lucent modems. Given a fairly recent distro and a
custom kernel. But I haven't had a modem with voice capabilities since the
14.4K days. Connexant drivers are by linuxant now and probably cost more
for the drivers than you paid for the modem. But at least there are
drivers I guess. Even if the 56K free ones magically disappeared shortly
after linuxant took over.

What's the intended use if you don't mind me asking? Using your PC as a
telephone, or a linux based answering machine? Or setting up some sort of
voice recognition type configuration?
