Driver for camera that uses SCSI connection?

We have an image acquisition system that uses an old Sony DKC-5000 camera.
The computer interface is SCSI. No, not USB emulating SCSI, actual SCSI.
The Windows driver is a piece of junk, and since virtually no-one uses it
anymore, there isn't going to be a replacement.

Does anyone have any ideas on if a Linux driver might exist, or how insane
it might be to try to interface to a SCSI camera? I need to be able to
control the camera as well as get the image data.

{Unfortunately there are some mechanical features of the camera and its
interface to a microscope that make it difficult/expensive to replace the
existing camera.}

Thanks for any clues!
