I basically have the exact opposite on the old gateway I have been messing
around with recently. Win2K doesn't boot from the CD, but multiple distros
of linux do...
I ended up having to make floppies for win2k. I upgraded my BIOS too...I
know this doesn't help much, but I thought I would at least chime in.
