I'm trying to share a USB printer between a Win98se and Mandrake 10.0 box.
Each can drive the printer on its own, no problem.
I'm trying to use a Belkin F1U201 switch to do this automatically/in
software. It comes (of course) with windows & Mac support. All the Windows
app does is run a system tray icon which indicates its status and which can
be used to take control of the final device.
If the Windows PC takes over the printer, I have to unplug the Linux USB
cable before it sees the printer again, which defeats the whole object.
Has anyone any suggestions (apart from "Get another switch or another
printer"!). Some sort of user application to take control, that I can
somehow interface with CUPS?
Info from lsusb shows the peripheral switch as Vendor 0x050D (Belkin)
and Product 0x0201. Once the printer is active, this device is no longer
visible! When visible, it's Class 3 (HID).
TIA
Richard
