I like Slackware, suggest you use 10.1. You could look at vector linux but I
prefer Slack. Or even Slux. These are Slackware based. I use CLI mostly.
But a gui is fine sometimes.
If you choose Slackware 10.1, you will have to menu select your install
since you are only using a 2GB drive.
You should use Fluxbox instead of KDE or GNOME. It is clean and meets the
needs. I've used it on a Pentium class with as little as 32MB ram.
As for booting from the CDROM, you can create a SBOOTMGR floppy disk to boot
from the device of choice (cdrom)
Another choice of install would be NFS from another system with the
slackware or distro of choice on that system (CDROM or hard disk).
Expect to read and google a lot!
