Hi!
I'm trying to talk to a few devices via a serial RS232C connection.
Currently I'm experimenting with a USB->serial converter (Prolific PL-2303X),
as I need at least four serial ports and the machine offers only one (one
serial mouse).
When checking the communication with minicom /dev/ttyUSB0 I get a
lot of erros. Sometimes the command I send to the external device is
not recognized, sometimes a wrong command seems to be received. I have
no means to identify which characters really make it to the ext. device.
When connecting two computers via a
USB<->PL-2303X<->Nullmodem-cable<->PL-2303X<->USB link I see a lot of
garbage sent when the device file /dev/ttyUSB0 is not accessed by a
program (and the HUPCL-flag is set). I suppose the two problems
are related.
I'd be grateful for any help.
Oliver
PS: Machine is running SUSE 9.1, kernel 2.6.4-52, using kernel module
PL-2303X.
