Fdisk problems (255 vs. 16 heads)

I've got a software RAID on my web server. The drives were partitioned
with LBA off, so they are displaying 16 heads.

I'd like to prepare a newly purchased drive to be a backup for the RAID.
The problem I'm having is that I need to run fdisk using the same
parameters as the other drives, but it will only come up in LBA mode,
with 255 heads. I've tried forcing it to NORMAL in the BIOS, but that's
not working. How can I get back to 16 heads in fdisk? Do I need a
special fdisk?
