UPS question

    Hello. I have a simple question regarding UPS's. I have an APC
    Smart-UPS 1000. I have a workstation and monitor plugged into it, but I
    usually shut the computer down at night. Is it a good idea or a bad
    idea to leave the UPS on all the time even when the appliances plugged
    into it are off and there is no load? Will this decrease the life span
    of the battery?
