Re Mandrake 10.1
kernel 2.6.8.1-12mdksmp
Gigabyte GA-8175 Motherboard
P4 3Ghz
I gig ddr400 ram
KDE desktop

The system ran fine with the above setup until I installed an extra gig of
ram. Then I got browser / file manager crashes, spontaneous desktop
reboots and lockups.

The new ram was mismatched with the original so the supplier changed them
all over for identical modules.
The problem still persists: with 2 gig ( 4 x 512M ) installed I get hangs
and crashed. Removing the extra gig of ram settles everything down.

Is there a software contention with 10.1 or the kernel and large ram?
