IT8212 Raid

Has anyone managed to successfully get the IT8212 (also known as ITE8212F)
raid controller (as on the GA-K8NS pro) to work under Suse 9.2 x86_64?

>From what I understand, it is necessary to compile and install a kernel
module from the source code given on the ITE website (www.ite.com.tw); Not
being very familiar with doing this sort of thing have so far failed
miserably.
