Trying to get my CD-RW to work consistantly. I get it to work only when I
boot into windows, run a test burn there, and then boot into Linux. If I
don't do that, Linux won't recognize the drive (Microsolutions Backpack).
dmesg gives me:
usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using address 4
lsusb gives me:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0ac9:0000 Micro Solutions, Inc. BackPack
CD-ReWriter
cdrecord -scanbus gives me junk:

I read sometimes you want usb-storage module installed, but when I insmod
usb-storage with Mandrake 10.0 I get:
insmod: can't read 'usb-storage': No such file or directory
When I include the path and file name (because it's there):
insmod: error inserting 'usb-storage.ko.gz': -1 Invalid module format
Any clue?
