Canon SD500 works fine with Linux

I just got a Canon SD500 digital camera today. I plugged in the USB cable
opened the Photo Tool on FC3 (it's GThumb), went to import and there all
the pictures were. It's nice when something like this just works, thanks
Canon for adhering to open standards.

BTW are there any recommendations for photo applications, something more
then GThumb but simpler then GIMP.
