If you are trying to match a case you already have it is possible that you
have a proprietary case from a manufacturer like Compaq, HP, Gateway,
IBM, Dell or whoever. Then to fix/upgrade this computer you are at the
mercy of the maker of the case. This is the way companies increase their
profit line by selling you a cheap computer in the beginning and then
charging outragious prices for replacement parts. By a real good quality
clone case with matching motherboard. That way in the future when you
want to upgrade you won't be stuck like you are now. The transition from
a historical perspective in the pc world goes: pc 5 slot, pc/xt 8 slot, AT,
ATX and BTX which is the future of the pc market. Right now ATX is
the most plentifull stardard (MicroATX, ATX and Extended ATX). BTX
comes in three sizes also. Intel has motherboards out now that are BTX
but there are not many case makers that are producing BTX style cases yet.
There are other standards (like ITX) but they make up a very small
percentage of the total market.
