Broadcom modem in Slackware 10.0

I got this computer for free on my birthday. It's a Dell Dimension
2300 with some bad sectors on the hard drive which made Windows ME
unusable (boo-hoo) so I ended up with a free hand-me down I could try
throwing my slackware on and compute with for at least a few months.
Anyhow, all my other Linux boxes have had Chips and Technology
winmodems Linux doesn't support. This one has, according to what the
system tells me, a broadcom 4212 v.90 modem. And I can't get it to
work. I've run ppp, minicom and so on (yes I am something of a newbie)
and I've had no luck. Today I ran dmesg into a file. I found while
lessing it that it told me to email the contents along with the
printout of lspci -vv and the modem's name somewhere. I intend to
shortly. Here is the file which consists of dmesg's output, appended
to it lspci -vv and the output of ScanModem.

Please can somebody help me?
