Hi there,
I'm tryng to boot a Knoppix-3.8 Linux distribution from a USB hard
drive, so I patched a 2.6.11.8 kernel with the
http://dedasys.com/freesoftware/patches/blkdev_wakeup.patch
but all I get when the kernel has booted and tryes to mount the root
partition is:
"Waiting for root device to wake us up"
and it hangs there forever.
Of course the kernel has been compiled with all the necessary drivers
for usb, mass storage, scsi disk, scsi emulation, uhci, ehci, ext3
filesystem, etc. etc. inside the kernel and everything else as modules.
I made the same kernel compilation (more or less) with a 2.4.29 and the
http://www.xenotime.net/linux/usb/usbboot-2422.patch
and this works fine, but then I have other troubles because the
Knoppix-3.8 I'm using needs a 2.6 kernel, neither I'd like to switch to
a 2.4 based distribution...
Anyone can please give me some suggestion?
Thanks in advance for your help.
