Adding a SATA disk on a RH9 2.4.20-31.9 system

Hello all,

I'm trying to add a SATA disk to a RH9 system. The current system is
installed on a set of P ATA disks. When I connect the SATA disk to the
hardware, it is recognized by the BIOS and also by RH9 in a way. That
is, when I boot RH9 it reports the presence of a disk as /deb/hde as
being a SATA disk but then the system hangs. Anyone any idea???
