Hi,
I installed a new EPOX EP-8VTAI mobo with an athlon xp2700+
thoroughbred CPU.
Running Debian Sarge and a variety of kernels with the Ruby Multi-user
Linux patch.
I run kernel 2.6.9 and I get Kernel Panic after BUG at
/kernel/timer.c:416 OR segfault failures in the stable gcc compiler
compiling a kernel.
I run kernel 2.6.12 with similar patch and the system freezes, leaving
no trace of failure.
But I run 2.6.11 and similar patch up for a week now doing all sorts of
things and rock solid.
The failures never occurred under the old KT7A mobo + Athlon
Thunderbird.
Can this be explained? Hoping I explained the problem adequately.
The Debian Linux User group suggested I raise the DIMM Voltage and try
the failing kernels again.
Thanks!
Hugo
