Thanks for the response Mark. Response is the same with or without
a card in the reader. With the card in the reader my /var/log/syslog
shows:

Plug in UCR61:
Sep 10 17:50:06 dell kernel: usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using
uhci_hcd and address 11
Sep 10 17:50:22 dell hal.hotplug[17555]: timout(10000 ms) waiting
for /devices/p ci0000:00/0000:00:07.2/usb1/1-1/1-1:1.0
< Hangs until UCR61 unplugged >
Sep 10 17:52:59 dell kernel: scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage
devices
Sep 10 17:52:59 dell kernel: usb-storage: device found at 11
Sep 10 17:52:59 dell kernel: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle
before scanning
Sep 10 17:52:59 dell kernel: usb 1-1: USB disconnect, address 11
Sep 10 17:52:59 dell hald[5291]: Timed out waiting for hotplug event
1046. Rebasing to 1046

Any ideas? Thanks,
