I would like to upgrade the computer I currently have Ubuntu Linux
running on. Currently it's running on a Pentium III 866mhz. I'd like to
replace the CPU, motherboard, and memory with a Pentium 4 1.5ghz. My
current linux kernel is 2.6.10-5-686. It's the i686 version, so I
assume that everything will continue to work fine.

This is my primary computer, so I really want to make sure nothing
catastrophic is going to happen when I switch out the motherboard.

Any information or help on this topic is appreciated!
