jumping off - tell me about Dells and Linux

Ok, I'm going to setup a linux box - or at least try.
Dell sells a couple boxes, Dimension 3000n and 2400n, without
the uS OS. I'd like to hear some feedback on your experience
with these Dell boxes and Linux. Just how hdrd is this
going to be. I have UNIX experience on a VAX (YEARS! ago).
