I got on the phone about a month ago with customer service and they said
that none of their present low-end models are serial capable. They sent
me a 900VA serial-capable model as a replacement, no extra charge except
that I had to pay to ship back both the original (defective) unit and
the USB-only replacement. So the whole cost was that shipping cost
(about $22).
The 900VA unit and its X-based Bulldog software works fine. So Belkin
CS made good on initially sloppy warranty service.
I suggest you call them and explain what happened. They will probably
make it right with a nice upgrade.
