I reinstalled Linux with FC4 and a new(ish) graphics card--an nVidia
GeForce 6200 AGP--at the same time. All worked well using a generic
VESA driver, but then yum updated me to the 2.6.13-1.1532_FC4 kernel
and my X intialization failed. I tried to move to the nVidia driver
(NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676-pkg1), but it failed to load (apparently I
have to remove the nvidiafb module, although I don't know how to do
that).
Why is the new kernel insisting on this change? That is, why won't it
run with the old generic driver? Also, if I really must switch drivers,
could someone point me to newbie instructions for removing the nvidiafb
module and rebuilding the (2.6.13-1.1532_FC4) kernel correctly?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
