Been trying for several days to get 1024x768 to work on a newly purchased
Gateway M305 laptop. 1024x768 is the native mode of the local panel. I can
get the i810 module to load, but it sends several interesting messages to
the xog log file:

Bad V_BIOS checksum
Extended BIOS function call 0x511 not supported

not using mode "1024x768" (no mode of this name)
Builtin mode "800x600"
Builtin mode "640x480"

The 800x600 mode and 640x480 work fine. I have 1024x768 working with
Win2003, and I can get it by using the commercial XIG drivers. I even
tried the 915resolution utility to change the memory copy of the video
bios before starting X, but that does not work either. I using Ubuntu 5.10
with a reasonably current kernel and recent X.org. Any ideas other than
using the XIG drivers or attempting a vbios flash (assuming I can ever
locate the code)?
