That's up to you......
My laptop is 64-bit and I have for the most part a 64-bit OS, I do run in a
mixed mode environment on the laptop (some 32-bit apps). My desktop system
is 32-bit and I try and keep both system basically in sync. If I build a
new 64-bit rpm on my laptop I also build a 32-bit version on my desktop
when needed. Some 32-apps I want (personal preference) on my laptop are
built from the desktop and then installed. Some 32-bit apps that I want,
like OOo2 are only available in 32-bit, so I install them and the 32-bit +
64-bit (helps to keeps things working well) support libs required.
If the code is 64-bit compliant then you should have no problems building 32
or 64 bit or both where needed and desired.
Or you could just go 64-bit on both systems.
