Horizonal black lines on display - problem w/ graphics card?

Hi

I had horizontal black band both leading and trailing darker areas on my
display and I assumed that this is a problem w/ my 5 year old HP CRT
monitor. I have replaced the monitor with a 19" LCD monitor ( Samsung
Syncmaster 930B). Thedisplay is sharper now but I still see the lines.

Could this be a problem with the graphics card (NVidia Riva TNT2) going
bad? Can I improve it by changing the settings?

Any help is appreciated.

TIA

.
