What model Shuttle? Is it New In Box (NIB)?

I have here an AMD64 3000+ s754 (NewCastle) CPU [+] ECS K8M800 mATX
Mobo (bought New from Fry's/Outpost online for 158 w/shipping, or so, a
few months back)..the caveat is it's not together and running at the
moment (I need more components).

Mobo specs are here (click 'Specifications' once there);
<http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?MenuID=21&LanID=9&DetailID=455&DetailName=Specification>
It has Onboard Graphics/Sound/LAN, but it also has an AGP 8x port ;)
The PDF Mobo Manual has font issues :(
ECS is a well know large OEM(usually) Mobo manu, and has some decent
products for us 'budget' minded.

Do you have a need for SFF only ? (cooling can be an issue)

I believe the 3000+ s754s are being phased out - and replaced with the
"Semprons" which are now also AMD64 CPUs (64bit enabled - whatever that
means);

here's a deal for a Retail, recent core, AMD64 3000+ "Venice" E6
stepping for $122

<http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103606>
[AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 800MHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 754 E6
Processor - _Retail_]

-- note; Retail means/includes the Stock AMD HSF (excellent), and 3yr
AMD Manu warranty, as oppposed to OEM, which has neither. You'll need
some Arctic Silver/Ceramique 5 likely though.

AMDs (as well as Intel) product naming conventions and product lines
can be a daunting task to keep sorted - so since you have a 14.4k
Dialup only - I will post a wad of URLs for you (some will surely hang
your connection - with all that javascript crap whizzing around,
running code);

I see the recent drop in s940 DualCore Opterons as the
real-value-for-your-$$ or "sweet spot" as of very recent times....but
that's another platform...and more expensive, requiring Registered
DIMMs.

Consider a budget s939 system....even the AMD64 X2(DualCore s939). The
s939 ASRock AGP[+]PCIe x16 available mobo is less than $70 USD at
<http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157081> (a
reputable reseller)...ASRock is the 'budget' line of ASUStek...and I've
heard nice things about it from reputable Winblows users. Depending
upon where you are located, perhaps NewEgg, MonarchComputers.com or
Mwave.com will have a barebones combo deal you can put together within
budget. The caveat is you'll also need a $40-50(?) video card to start.

So - with that ASRock mobo above;
(the only reason I chose that one is because it can accept either an
AGP 8x -or- a PCI-Express (PCIe) x16 Video Card...a decent AGP 8x Card
can be had for less than $50 - and at a later date, a PCIe card can be
used, withOUT having to get a new Mobo)

....and add to that a new AMD64 3200+ Venice (E6) s939 CPU for a total
of about $280. (CPU + Mobo + VC only). The ASRock and many others are
full sized ATX(12"x9", IIRC), not the microATX form factor(9"x9" IIRC)
like the stated ECS K8M800 mentioned.(the 'M' designates MicroATX).

But the Semprons are cheaper and I certainly understand if/when on a
tight budget. Plus, if you already had an s754 system, I'd say to not
even bother upgrading (performance vs s939) - but your building/buying
from scratch, be it a used system or not. You can get a great deal on a
s754 Sempron CPU + Mobo ...and you won't (shouldn't) need a VC, but in
light of another poster's comments, you might. That ECS mobo uses the
VIA K8M800 NorthBridge (AFAIK, no diff than the K8T on it's ATX
bretheren), and VIA 8237 SouthBridge.
