Problem connecting drive to secondary IDE bus

Hi,

I have a system with the following setup:

1) SuperMicro X5DAL TG-2 motherboard (BIOS 1.3b)
2) Redhat Enterprise WS 4 (4.1.18)

I'm trying to connect two hard drives to the
secondary IDE bus. When both are connected,
the system will not boot, it gets all the way to
where it says:
Red Hat nash version 4.1.18 starting

and just sits there.
If I only connect one drive (master or slave) , the system
will boot properly. We have tried different cables with
no luck. This also happens on another identical system.
Any help is appreciated.
