This is a bit off-topic, but I have an issue...
I have an old HP E800 server at my house. This server has been very
reliable, but now I am trying to squeeze a bit more performance out of
this box.
It has 2 Intel Pentium PIII 1 GHz CPUs. At the time it was sold, HP had a
variety of CPUs, but maxed out at 1 GHz. The model I have is the P2587A.

From the Intel website, the PIII line went all the way to 1.4 GHz. Anyoneknow if I can stick some 1.4 GHz CPUs in this server? Will it recognize
them and run them at the right speed?

Check the HP website for your model and look for the latest tech
notes, etc. Loob for a mobo ECO change level or BIOS rev level readme
and see what the last CPU speed is.
In al probability the rev level of the CPUs have to match, which can
be a PITA if you have to find them on ebay.

Don't blame me. I voted for Gore.
