Writing Modem Driver

Hi,
I am a student, and I am trying to write an Internal Modem driver
for linux.

I've been searching around, but I cannot find any low level
information about any modem's
hardware,

Can anyone guide me, where I can find such information about the any
PCI modem's hardware.
