I must admit it is rather uncommon for motherboards to support unbuffered
ECC memory and Asus may be an exception here. These modules are hard to
find and they do not come in pairs for dual channel support.
Crucial claims to do them (and a www shop in the UK claims to stock them).
Quite a bit more expensive, and a small bit of a gamble (if the memory
turns out not to work, then what?).
In server
applications registered ECC memory is preferred and there are a few boards
(based, e.g., on the Nforce4 Pro chipset) that support this. If you
require ECC and want to avoid excessive spending, you could probably get
the Asus, but be prepared to fix the broken ACPI tables.
